If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a family of food lovers, a heap of family history, and a dash of international adventure get tossed into one big pot… well, you’re about to find out.

We are a blended family with four kids (three still at home) – two boys aged 21 and 9, and two girls aged 13 and 3. The eldest has already flown the nest, but our home is still very much alive with the noise of siblings, the clatter of pots and pans, and the occasional “Who ate the last cookie?!” debates.

This autumn, we’re adding a new flavour to the mix – a 16-year-old exchange student from Germany, joining our family adventure starting August 20th. She’s about to find out that in this house, meals are not just about eating – they’re about stories, experiments, a sprinkle of chaos, and most importantly dessert.

Cooking runs deep in our bloodline. I trained as a chef and still work in a restaurant kitchen; my partner once completed chef school too (though he’s now cooking mostly for love, not for pay). My oldest son has been working as a chef since he turned 18, and as for my extended family… let’s just say if you ever get invited to a gathering, wear stretchy pants. I have four brothers and four sisters, and almost all of them can whip up something that makes you close your eyes after the first bite.

Here at Tastes & Tales, you can expect a blend of recipes, family food traditions, and cultural stories – all served with a generous portion of humour. Sometimes we’ll get sentimental, sometimes we’ll spill a kitchen disaster or two (because perfection is overrated), and sometimes we’ll take you on a deep dive into the history behind a dish.

So grab a fork, loosen your belt, and pull up a chair at our table. The food is hot, the stories are fresh, and the laughter is always on the house.
